Being a teacher is a lot of work
On Friday I went into school knowing it was one of the last days to get stuff together. I started with trying to make the lesson plans for the first few days. This was so hard trying to figure out where to start and what to cover. I was lucky to get a lot of help from my cooperating teacher and she basicaly let me copy her for the first few days until I get the hang of this. The one subject I am on my own with is Science since I teach both sections. I love science so that helps but I dont know what to cover or how fast and stuff so it will be a learning process for sure. Also I want to keep both sections on the same page so the first time we switch I have to get to know the new class and go over my exspectations. This means that I have to come up with a stall day for my class so that they dont pull ahead. I have a feeling I will be doing a lot of on the spot decisions these first couple of days but dont worry I will try to make it look good. :) The rest of the day I worked on the finishing touches for the room. Some of the other teachers were giving me a hard time because I made sure to think of everything and it all has to look just right and match. I even bought blue shiny fabric and made a slip cover for my filing cabnets so they would fit with the water theme. I know kinda dorky but I want to do everything to impress the new parents and students that first day. I think my proudest acomplish is the Job Shark. I was able to hang it and it looks sweet in the corner of the room. If this thing doesnt win over the students then I have no hope cuz I would think I had the coolest teacher if I saw it. But then again I did make it so I could be a little bias. I still have to get some orginazational stuff to put all the cool markers, pens and pencils in but I plan to bring my camera(since i finally found it again) next time i go in and take lots of pictures before the young ones come in and "break it in." Today, which is Saterday, I finally just took a day away from teaching and focused on my life at home. I have been living out of a suitcase so I finally got that unpacked as well as some other orginization done. Tomorrow I will jump back into teacher mode (since teachers have limited time to be human) and make sure all is ready as well as start to prepare for the first full week of school that will be here in no time. Its all about trying to stay ahead and then maybe by Christmas I will be able to breath again. hahahahahaha.....Riiiiiiight Have a good one!!!!!

A water themed room and a Job Shark...you are the coolest teacher ever! I'm sure the kids will love it and the other teachers will get over the jealousy and start making thier own rooms more exciting!
Hi Mark - I think you got the organizational things going for you. It seems like you are doing well! It's great that you made friends with the other teacher, that helps! For the days that you have to find a buffer, you should set up a field trip to the museum:)
